InStyler Or Not????????

Dolls...I would have to say a definite Yes for the InStyler...I recieved it for Xmas and I absolutely love it....It comes with a few rules that u must follow unless your experience will not be as great as mine...#1: The temperatures on the InStyler are specifically for a certain hair texture EX: High-thick/coarse; Medium- in between texture; Low-thin/fine.

Now If u have very fine thin hair and you say to yourself "I really wanna straighten or bump my hair, let me put it up to high" Trust me it will sizzle and break off..U must use it according to your texture. If you are not sure of your texture click here for examples of different textures.

With the InStyler u can straighten, bump under, flip curl, and spiral.....Your hair will come out with super shine and body.... and when its rolling on the barrel their is absolulety no flyaways all your hair is wrapped around the barrel perfectly.

Tip 1: The Barrel always goes on the bottom to achieve any curl, BUT if u have kinky roots do the first sweep with the barrel on top to straighten out that root once its str8 return to regular use

Ladies, this is a must buy... I believe mine cost $92 a bit pricey but so worth it....and besides we would pay $70 for a chi flat iron...why not on this.. which is wayy better than a flat iron, I will never flat iron again!

Who can do the best Doobie!

Hey Dolls...Today was a BIG day for me..I tried a new hair salon...The ladies of color know that in order to get a beautiful wash, set and doobie you go to the Dominicans.....Well, since I recently moved those type of salons are not around me.... they are about 45min-an hour away....Too far for me...The salons over here APPEAR to cater more to Caucasian hair....Being that this is one thing I cannot do on my own (yeah I can wash and all that but don't get that fullness like the Dominicans shops can)I took a friends advice in trying "the other" type of salon...

Experience:
I walk in, its very nice and CLEAN...I smile and say "I have an appointment" ..The young lady I have the appointment with (Christina) comes and gets me.....She sits me down to start my color rinse...While doing my hair she is sooo surprised that my hair is soo soft and she loves it..Her words:).....So we talk.. she says to me "Are u afraid b/c a white girl is doing your hair?" I reply "Not at all, whatever u mess up I can fix, but I am trusting you" So we get into a long conversation...and I learn that they are trained in ALL types of hair but mostly the textures similar to Caucasian or Spanish texture.

Long story short.. she did her thing...My hair is shiny, light, full and I got a trim so it looks alot healthier and bouncy...My plan is to go to her every 3 weeks for a wash/set and blowout with hopes of growing longer healthier hair. Since this salon is in a nice area and is very professional (beverages and muffins offered:) The price for what I want is a bit higher...Dominican shops usually charge $20-$25... Whereas here it is $30-35...Which I do not mind paying since she does my hair just as good and provides such a nice experience.

So ladies if you are every in Wayne, NJ head over to Secrets Salon (973) 633-1330 and ask for Christina. They also have another location in Haskell, NJ....And to my ladies of color...I know how we can be with our hair and sometimes we are right BUT dont be afraid to branch out and see what someone else can do...You never know, You too may meet a bad ass white girl like I did that can do wonders with your hair!

Have a Great Hair Day:)

I like it BIG!

Hair that is.......I hate flat lifeless hair.....When I was younger and use to do my weaves I would flip my tracks at the crown so It would stick up and give that fuller look.....OOOPS!!!!....Not cute.....But we live and learn.

Of course we all know the oldest trick to fuller hair.....hair spray and a rat tail comb to tease it.....But who wants all that hairspray in there hair, making it hard and *causing tons of breakage*.....In order for me to get my hair fuller, I would put my hard head bands in the middle of my head and pull some hair over it, so u wouldn't see the headband....Sound familiar?.....I bet...What just came out? this new product called Bump-its... exactly what I use to do....So ummm WHERES MY $$$.

Bump-its gets a A+ ...They are a must have.... especially if you are like me and like to do a little bump in the front where your bang is (u would need a mini bump it for that style)....I would only recommend them being worn in a updo, low pony, or if you have a short cut or like I explained earlier.....It DOES NOT look flattering when you wear them with your hair out......It may look like you are rocking a wig.....Last but not least curls, curls, curls....Lots of curls, will almost definitely provide you with full big hair as you can see I rocked in the post pic.

Have a Great Hair Day:)

You make me feel like a Natural Woman!!!

Hey Dolls....Some of you ladies that love weave (like myself) may find it challenging when dealing with your OWN hair....U know, the stuff that actually grows from your scalp lol........I too find this a bit challenging....I can style my sister's hair b/c they are both natural and I come up with great ideas and it looks cute....But with myself I fall short a bit...I am learning though.....After I take my hair out of a weave I'll come into the living room and model my Natural styles for the husband...He likes them, so I guess I am getting there.....The first step is to love your hair, this way you wont be reliant on weave, tracks or clips-ins.....So whenever your hair is in its natural state sit in from of the mirror and play with it, try different styles....No pressure, rock it Natural when you are ready.

Now for all my ladies that are already natural....and you want to achieve that wet and wavy look without the weave or texturizer....I have the product for you. Uncle Funky's Daughter: "Curly Magic" will help you achieve just that.....You will have the wet/curly look that will move when you do, and it so soft.....They have a wonderful line....Another Line I love is called Miss Jessie's....They both have everything to keep your natural hair beautiful...Also I came across this young ladies videos on YouTube and she shows you tons of hairstyles you can do with your natural hair.

Have a great hair day:)

Accesorize The Hair

Dolls.....Winter time is here and although we all have our hair done nicely........It is still important to keep warm from head to toe...I've always seen these hats on stars and thought they may look cute one me....I am not a hat wearer so I had to try one on....So while in the mall I passed by Claire's and saw they had them......They are called Knit Berets and they have them in every color.....Brown, Black, Tan, Grey, Red etc.....I plan on getting one in every color to match with either a cardigan sweater or my boots......Now the way you can wear them is with either all your hair out and pull it over the top......Or if, u are in a rush and don't have time to do your hair, just pull a little hair out in the front like Rihanna did and you are good to go......Stay warm and have a great hair day:)

Colors of the Seasons

WINTER.....Its the time of year when everything is bright, and everyone is bundled up in there cardigans with high boots....And just like your apparel changes.... so must your hair.....During the winter season dark hair is an absolute YES....Whether it be ebony, midnight brown, chocolate copper, brunette or dark chocolate......along with the new raves this season fire red, dark copper and deep wine.....Now if we opt to go dark, apparel colors have to lighten....ex: white, washed out jean color, pretty in pink etc......But if your feeling sexy and bold, dark on dark is amazing also:)

SPRING...... Time to lighten up a bit....Now ladies.... going from the cold weather to now a bit warmer, can be terrible for your hair....Reason being...Winter is dry and and cold, causing our hair to either shed, break off a bit, become brittle and without moisture.....So condition, condition, condition....We have to treat our hair with love and care......Wash it, and leave in treatments....Then gradually go to the lighter colors...DO NOT GO LIGHT IN ONE SITTING.....That will kill you locks....Colors for this season:Multi-tonal shades.....more than one hue....golden walnut, ginger brown, glazed strawberry etc:)

SUMMER, SUMMER, SUMMER TIME
......Since our hair is most likely light from the spring...If you have continued conditioning then you are good to go lighter.....If you wanna be real bold.....Colors for this season can be sandy blonde, golden wheat, fiery red, tangerine etc....Yes I've seen it all in the summer...Also champagne blonde, honey ginger,Swedish blonde, light chocolate browns, light auburn or a chardonnay color....All kinds of colors can be rocked in this season, just make sure it fits and compliments your complexion:)

FALL/AUTUMN.........The leaves are your guide........They are beautiful earth tone colors, as your hair should be.......These colors tend to range from light to dark....BUT not as dark as winter and not as light as summer....Somewhere in between.....ex:ginger browns, chestnut, buttered toast, light red, champagne etc....This is the season to be golden, earthy and natural:)

Have a great hair day:)

The Start Of It All

I'm 13..... about to enter the 8th grade and my momma said I can start doing my own hair now. "Yayyyyyy".....Ok here we go..... School is about to start and I gotta do something with me hair.... Wow!!!! can't believe that I am in charge of they way I am going to look when I walk out this door....this is tooo exciting.... my head is my canvas and I am going to create a masterpiece.....So I think lol......So I start by brushing my freshly relaxed hair out of my wrap.....I pull it back into a str8 pony... but decided "Naw thats tooo simple" I wanted it to look like that the R&B singer from the 90's....Mona Lisa...Yall remember her?.....She use to have the crazy swoop bang real sharp and I wanted my hair just like her's....1 Problem....My hair in the front previously was China bangs(hair str8 across the forehead) meaning it was too short to swoop and go into my pony......"Ok lets get creative girl" I say to myself....I have some tracks (Human or synthetic hair sewn onto a weft) and some pins (wasnt into glue yet)....So I pulled all my hair into a tight bun on the side and put a clip on the track and clipped it to the front of my head and swooped the hell outta her all the way back into my side bun......Tacky u may say....I think not.....Years later what comes along....The invention of the Clip In.....All I wanna know is WHERE'S MY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Have a great hair day:)
